'Born in Sedona in 1983, Michelle Branch has risen to become one of the best-selling stars of the 20th century. Beginning her career in 1999, she posted two of her songs on the Rolling Stone website and ended up catching the attention of pop rock band Hanson and former Rolling Stone writer and Los Angeles record producer Jeff Rabhan and this gave her an opportunity to garner two gigs opening for Hanson in the year 2000. Being signed to Maverick Records, she began working with John Shanks to produce her major label debut. The debut album had three hit singles including ''Everywhere'', ''All you Wanted'' and ''Goodbye to You''. The album catapulted her to winning the 2002 MTV Video Music Awards and appearing on the Total Request Live after ''Everywhere'' reached number 4 on their charts. The 'Split Room' album also earned a Double Platinum certification by the RIAA for selling over two million copies in the United States. In 2002, Branch produced ''The Game of Love'' together with Santana alongside songwriters Gregg Alexander and Rick Nowels which won a Grammy Award for Best Pop Collaboration with Vocals. In 2003, her second major album debuted on the billboard 200 chart at number 2 and earned a Platinum certification by the RIAA for selling over a million copies. Despite the fact that the album was met with mixed reactions, the lead single ''Are You Happy Now?'' earned her a Grammy nomination for Best Female Rock. In 2005, she collaborated with her backup singer and longtime friend in a duo known as 'The Wreckers'. In 2006 the duo earned a CMA Awards Vocal duo of the Year nomination and a Grammy Award for Best Country Performance by a duo or a Vocal Group for the song ''Leave the Pieces''. In December, the same year, their two songs ''Stand Still'' and ''Look Pretty'' earned a Gold certification by the RIAA with sales of 851,000 copies as of March 2009. From 2013 till date she has pretty much been writing new songs. Her latest album ''Hopeless Romantic'' was released on the 7th of April 2017.'
